Siu Mai (from the Cantonese, very well-known version, Xiu Mai in Vietnamese version, Shao Mai in Mandarin etc.) is a type of dumpling or traditional Chinese meat bite, originating from Hohhot in Inner Mongolia. In Cantonese cuisine, it is generally served as dim sum and stuffed with pork (and often mushrooms, ginger, onion...), to be accompanied by different seasonings such as rice vinegar, sesame oil etc...
